I was caught in the storm yesterday. 20 solid minutes stuck at the side of the highway, hazard lights on, praying and listening for the storm to die down. I also witnessed the tall arch at the roundabout near Jame' fell to the ground like timber Monday night. To those affected by the big storm, our thoughts are with all of you......I m still trying to upload the pics from the Sunday event, so watch this space........

His Majesty's 61st Birthday: Bersama Rakyat
Bersama Rakyat meaning a royal get-together, a chance for the people of Brunei to get up close to meet and greet His Majesty. His Majesty's didn't disappoint, shaking hands with his subjects who eagerly awaited from early morning, along the maze of white tented platform at the Taman all the way to the student lined streets towards the Mercu Dirgahayu Monument at the old customs building. I was most impressed when His Majesty even stopped and pose for a little girl who requested a picture with her small digital cam and all this under the hot blaring sun.

The Breaking Shot
This was taken during the recent royal wedding dinner.
After this shot my SLIK tripod went snap, it broke! My immediate reaction at that time was to grab my camera and lens safely in my hands. Pheeeww! The tripod had served me well and I had it for ages since 1999. Oh well.

Malam Perayaan Begins
Last night was the start of malam perayaan; Bandar colourfully lit in cucul and bustling with night bazaar at the area in front of Sheraton and Taman Jubli with nightly stage performances as part of the the Royal Wedding Celebration and berjaga-jaga ceremony .......

Sunday Drive
On my way home after bf at JingChiew, I heard an unusual sound from my car so had to make a quick stop and check. Turns out it was some piece of rope that got caught on the wheel.

Istana Darussalam
Little is known about this palace, the Istana Darussalam. This historical building is located at the edge of Bandar, hidden amongst the sleepy Kg Sumbiling Lama. This palace was the late Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin's resident before his coronation and the birth place of His Majesty in 1946. This is also my kampung, where I grew up back in the 1980's, my childhood playgrounds.
